Business Profile and Localisation

Set the legal details that appear on your invoices and statements, and choose your default language, timezone and price format.

Your business profile is the legal identity Babylon prints on the charge documents you issue: buyer invoices where you are the seller, the buyer's premium and fee lines you charge, and the commission deductions on seller statements. Localisation controls the language, timezone and price format your storefront uses by default. Both live on the General tab of Settings → Business Settings.

Before you start

  • You need permission to manage business settings. Without it, Business Settings does not appear in the sidebar and the page refuses to open. See Team members and roles.
  • Have your registered company details to hand: legal name, registered address, and any company and tax registration numbers.
  • Changes on this page are not saved until you click Save Settings at the bottom of the page. Saving writes every tab at once, so check the other tabs have not been edited by mistake before you save.

Tip: the Search settings box at the top of the page filters sections by topic. Typing business or locale jumps straight to the right section.

Business Profile

Go to Settings → Business Settings → General → Business Profile.

Fields

  • Legal Business Name: the registered name of your business, exactly as it should appear on invoices. If you have never saved one, the field is prefilled with your account name.
  • Support Email: the address buyers and sellers should contact about a charge. If you have never saved one, it is prefilled with your billing email.
  • Support Phone: optional.
  • Company Registration Number: optional, but many jurisdictions expect it on invoices.
  • Tax Registration Number: optional. Add your VAT or sales tax number if you are registered.
  • Registered Address Line 1 and Registered Address Line 2: your registered office address.
  • City, State / Region, Postal Code.
  • Country Code: the two-letter country code, for example GB, US or FR. It must be exactly two letters.

The Readiness indicator

At the top of the section, Readiness tells you whether the profile is complete enough for Babylon to issue charge documents in your name.

When it reads "Ready. Tenant-issued invoices, commissions, and statements can use this profile." you are done.

Otherwise it reads "Missing required fields for tenant-issued charge documents." followed by the fields still needed. The required fields are:

  • Legal business name
  • Support email
  • Registered address line 1
  • Registered address city
  • Registered address postal code
  • Registered address country code

Support phone, both registration numbers, address line 2 and state or region are optional and never block readiness. Your account name and billing email count towards the first two items even if you have not typed them into the profile. A complete business profile is also one of the required items on your launch readiness checklist (see Getting started).

The Document Preview

Document Preview explains where this profile is used, which depends on your sales operating model (see Fees, commission and sales models):

  • Model 3 (tenant seller-of-record): buyer invoices carry your storefront logo and this legal profile as the seller of record.
  • Seller-led and tenant-assisted models: buyer invoices keep the seller as Sold By. Your profile appears only against the buyer's premium or other marketplace fees that you charge.
  • Seller statements and payout breakdowns: your profile is used for commission deductions and settlement contact details, whichever model you use.

Localization

Go to Settings → Business Settings → General → Localization.

Default Locale

The language shown to visitors by default. The options are English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Japanese, Chinese and Arabic. The default is English.

Supported Locales

The list of languages users can switch between, entered as language codes. The accepted codes are en, fr, de, es, it, pt, nl, pl, ru, ja, zh and ar. At least one is required.

Your Default Locale must also appear in Supported Locales. If it does not, or if you enter a code outside the list above, the save stops with a "Failed to save settings" message. Sections processed before the error may already have been saved while later ones were not, so correct the locale and save again.

Timezone

The timezone dates and times are displayed in by default. Pick from the full list of named timezones (for example Europe/London or America/New_York); the list is searchable. The default is UTC. Users can override this for themselves in their account settings. Choose the timezone of your main place of business so that auction end times read naturally to your team.

Displayed price format

Controls whether storefront prices show decimals by default:

  • Show Decimals (the default): prices show minor units, for example 1,250.00.
  • Whole Numbers Only: prices are shown without decimals, for example 1,250.

This changes how prices are displayed, not the amounts charged. Individual listings can override it: the listing form has its own Displayed price format field, which defaults to "Use tenant default" (followed by your current setting) and otherwise offers the same two options. See Listings and collections.

Saving your changes

  1. Fill in or change the fields above.
  2. Click Save Settings at the bottom of the page.
  3. Look for the "Settings saved successfully" notification. If you see "Failed to save settings" instead, read the message underneath: it names the field that was rejected.

Common questions

Why does Readiness still show a field as missing after I typed it in? The indicator does not refresh as you type. Save the page and it will update.

Can I use a different currency here? No. Currency is set under Settings → Business Settings → Commerce → Payments & Checkout. See Payments and checkout.

Where do I change my logo and storefront branding? In the White-Label Management section on the same tab. See White label and branding.
